How long will I be here?

Here is a link to an interesting article in the JoongAng Daily, which I see partnered up with CNN pretty frequently. Apparently many English teachers in Korea are staying and extending their contracts due to the bad economy at home, partially the reason I’m here in the first place.

Bad times at home keep English teachers here:

I’m not complaining, so far I am enjoying myself. Who would want to leave kimchi, soju, high heels, random solicitation texts in Korean I can’t read and dong chim?

  1. So, I must ask, how bad was the training? Everyone keeps saying how hard it is.. and I’m a little freaked out because I start training in 3 weeks.

    • It’s hard, but as long as you take it seriously, you should be fine. They want people to pass, but I hear if you are awful, you may not. They say something like 89% of people pass. Just participate during the day, demonstrate that you are trying to learn, show improvement throughout the week, and you will be OK. It does require some evening preparation, after class, for the following day, I wouldn’t blow that off.
