Bob’s Barbie in Hongdae

Looking for a quick snack before heading home after an afternoon at the Hongdae Saturday Market, I ran into Bob’s Barbie, a little street food stand located across from the imposing gate to Hongik University. I saw the word meat pie and I was sold.

The menu consists of hot dogs and various savory pies, with such as options as meat, shepherd’s and egg and bacon. As often found in Hongdae, the guys working the stand were great and spoke excellent English. The pie is not huge, but at 2,700 won, there are no complaints. I thought it was really good and I’ll be throwing more of them down in the future.

A 10 magazine article from earlier this year suggests that the owner was inspired after a trip to Sydney, and decided that such a concept would thrive in Korea. Well done.
