Last “Between” performances in Itaewon this weekend

A friend recently turned me on to a performance coming to an end this weekend in Itaewon. “Between” is the story of an adopted Korean American on her journey from New York to Korea. Presented by New York writer and actor Amy Mihyang, one of the main questions this performance raises is, “Do we need to know where we came from in order to know where we’re going?”

The subject matter is of interest to me as one of my best friends back home in Portland is a Korean American, adopted into a rural town in Central Oregon at a young age. “Between” tells a similar story of a girl struggling to assimilate in America. Her story then takes you on her trip from New York to Korea, eventually confronting topics such as a controversial pregnancy.

It’s all for a good cause as proceeds are being donated to the Korean Unwed Mothers and Families Association.

If you’re looking for something this weekend, head to Club After Main Stage in Itaewon.
Friday at 8pm
Saturday at 4pm and 8pm
Sunday at 4pm and 6pm
