Pentaport Rock Festival 2011 – The Lineup

August is music festival season here in Korea. Boasting a capacity of 50,000, PENTAPORT is the biggest and most established outdoor festival. You can catch over 60 Korean and international acts August 5th – 7th, 2011 at Dreampark in Incheon.

Leading up to the event I’ll be posting bits and pieces about the festival. Let’s start with what everyone will want to know first … the lineup.

Friday is Super Traxx, described on Korea Gig Guide as a special subsection of Pentaport, which is actually intended to promote the IAAF World Championships athletic event in Daegu. I don’t quite understand the connection, but headlining performers include Grammy nominee and everyone’s favorite Atlanta rapper B.o.B., as well as Drunken Tiger, Yoon Mirae, G Dragon and T.O.P., Taeyang, and Miss A. In addition, I’d be remiss to not make mention of my friend J-Path performing his low end bass sounds on the Groove Session stage.

Saturday’s big name is Korn. Yes, that Korn, with dreaded Jonathan Davis on vocals and slap happy Fieldy on bass. Other acts include Maximum the Hormone and Plain White T’s.

Sunday closes the festival out with Ting Tings, Simple Plan, Neon Trees, Idiotape and Korea’s electronic darlings, Shut Da Mouth.

Stay tuned for more Pentaport info in the coming days leading up to the festival.

  1. My daughter teaches English in Seoul and she was at the Festival and I was wondering if I could see pictures of the Festival so I can see her and put a picture in her scrap book. Do you know where I can find a website for pictures of Penteport?

    • I would recommend checking periodically with the Pentaport website to see if they put anything up, I saw quite a few official photographers walking around the festival. Also, I’ve seen some photo albums pop up on Facebook.
